Remanufactured Toner Cartridges

  • Be sure to get an annual cleaning. Having a technician inspect and clean your machine can prevent future incidents of major component failure.

  • Take page counts. Using the self test mode, the printer will show you the current page count, (much like the odometer in a car), and this can be used to determine the average lifespan of your cartridges and therefore more effectively comparison shop.

  • Keep your printer out in the open. When printers are tucked away, often the fan’s passageway is blocked preventing it from keeping the machine cooler and cleaner.

  • Never staple an item or use paper clips overtop of the machine. I have personally seen several expensive printer parts destroyed by one of those two items sneaking its way into the machine.

  • Never store your cartridges near a heating or air conditioning vent. The different levels of humidity can damage your cartridges and not all toner companies are as reliable on their refund policy. They are best stored in a cool, dark room such as a closet.

  • Remember to change your fuser wands. A significant amount of printers have a wand that is used to clean the fuser, is supposed to be replaced every toner, and is often not replaced by the user because they are never shown how. Be sure to confirm that your printer has one and be shown how to switch them.
